UNILAG students apprehended for overnight reading

Some University of Lagos (UNILAG) students were recently apprehended by the school’s security forces for overnight reading. The affected students were from faculties of Engineering, Sciences and Arts.

The students were raided overnight by security agencies and driven to their basement along the Faculty of Education.

They were directed to log in to the portal to confirm their status. They however protested the action, alleging that such process could be used against them in future.

The security personnel said students have not been directed to resume physically, as they are meant to attend classes online.
They accused the students of not only breaching the orders of the school authorities, but also violated COVID-19 rule of social distancing and wearing of face mask.

The security personnel said students are free to come to the campus during the day, as some of them could have challenges accessing the internet, and could therefore use the institution’s wifi.
