Headbands are a terrific option for you if you want to add a little extra style to your wardrobe by way of accessories. The best part is that you can build your own DIY scrunchie headbands in the convenience of your own home without even having to sew; all you need is some satin fabric and an elastic band.
Materials Needed
Sewing Needle
Satin fabric.
Thread.
3/4 inch Elastic band.
Scissors.
Pins.
Safety pins.
Measuring tape.
Chalk.
Sewing machine (optional a needle and thread will do)
PROCEDURES INVOLVED IN YOUR MAKING SCRUNCHIES HEADBAND.
Using your chalk measure and mark out 7 by 10 inches on your fabric. Using your scissors cut out the measured first piece. This will be called your main piece.
Fold the piece of your main fabric into half length wise with the right sides together. Secure them well with pins to keep the edges well lined up.
Sew down the long side starting 1.5 inches from the top using a 1/4 inch allowance. Leave 1.5 inches unstitched at the bottom too.
Remove the pins and flip the fabric right side out.
Using your chalk mark out 3 by 14 inches on your fabric. Using your scissors cut out the measured second piece. This will be called your inner piece.
Pass the inner fabric inside the main fabric using a safety pin.
After bringing out both ends tack them each to secure both the main piece and the inner piece.
Using your chalk mark out 3 by 15 inches. Using your scissors cut out the measured third piece. This will be called your Elastic casing.
Fold the piece of the fabric in half lengthwise with the right sides also together and use your pins to secure it.
Sew down the long sides too starting from 1.5 inches from the top and using a 1/4 inch seam allowance also.
Remove the pins and flip the fabric inside out.
Pass the Elastic band inside the Elastic casing using the safety pin.
Sew both ends of the main piece and the Elastic casing piece together using needle and thread.
Neatly cut out the excess piece of fabric away.
