The National Universities Commission has approved the establishment of full-time mode for 11 new undergraduate programmes at the Federal University, Dutsin-ma.
The courses are to be offered by the University with effect from the 2021/2022 academic session.
The Director, Public Relations and Protocols of the university, Habibu Matazu, confirmed the development on Wednesday.
He revealed that the approval was contained in a letter signed by the NUC’s Director of Academic Planning, Dr N. B. Saliu for the Executive Secretary and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Armaya’u Bichi, on February 18, 2022.
According to Matazu, the approved programmes are B.Eng. Chemical Engineering; BSc. Human Anatomy; B.Eng, Mechanical Engineering; B. Agricultural Engineering and BSc. Geology.
The rest are B. Radiography; B.NSc. Nursing;
B.MLS Medical Science Laboratory; BSc. Human Physiology; B.Eng. Civil Engineering and B.Eng. Electrical Electronics.
The University is however yet to get approval for the establishment of Law and Mechatronics courses pending when the institution implements the corrections and suggestions made by the NUC Resource Verification Teams to correspond with the Commission’s Bench-Marks for running the proposed programmes.
It was learnt that the NUC Resource Verification Panels visited the university between Monday, 6th and Thursday, 9th September 2021 and assessed the human and material resources available for the commencement of the programmes.
